Our very first day

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made it the first three days and going home soon to rest up for the next 177 school days! Ha!  So far- so good.
Parents: Don't forget to finish purchasing all school supplies and have in the classroom by Monday.

2nd day of preschool

Today went even smoother than yesterday. You would be surprised what these little ones learn in just a short while. They are learning to walk with "marshmallow" toes- softly and to put "bubbles in their mouth" -meaning walk quietly. They are also learning to push their chair in when they leave the table. We use the terms "inside voice" and "walking feet". We say our class prayer every morning and say our lunch prayer before lunch. I also use the phrase "Give me five". This means-
1. Eyes on me
2.Feet together or if sitting, criss cross  applesauce
3.Hands to yourself or if sitting, hands in lap
4. Ears listening and we "click" on our listening ears- 1 click for each ear only or I told them they would strip a gear. Ha!
5. Lips Zipped (and we make a zipping sound)

They also clean up their "area" after snack.

I do not make them say "I'm sorry" instead I teach them to say "I apologize". In a class I took long ago, our instructor told us that sorry was a condition and that our children did not have a condition. That has always stuck with me and I try to have them apologize instead.
These are a few of the things that your children may come home talking about and now you will know what they are talking about! You may even want to use these at home.

The First Day

Well it is 3:47 and we made it through our first day!!!! We only had one to cry this morning but he soon joined the others and forgot all about being sad. We had a fun day. We read the kissing hand and they met Chester the Raccoon. They may want to kiss your hand and they may want you to kiss theirs. We will read more about Chester tomorrow. They did really well. If they cry tomorrow, just remember this is new to them. They will adjust. I promise.

You may send a labeled brush for the little girls to keep in their cubby. We will try to keep their hair looking neat. Emphasis on try. Ha!

Can you believe they ALL napped today! Only one said - " I have a headache. I think I need my momma." Oh- so sweet. They are precious. Enjoy this time. It seems like only yesterday that my babies were starting Pre-K and now I have one starting college and one starting high school.  This year may seem like you will be doing one project after another but I promise you if I could go back to those days, I would in a heartbeat. Now they only really need you when they want money or a ride somewhere! Well it's not all that bad but I wish I could go on field trips with them again and make fun snacks for their class again. Now they just want cokes and pizza! And to hang out with their friends. When did it become uncool to hang out with their mom? Just enjoy these days because I promise you that come May you will wonder where the time went.

I sure did enjoy seeing the gym filled with lots of old faces and LOTS of new faces. Wow! I think this is our biggest year ever! Lots of new teachers too. Welcome to Mr. Keys (Spanish), Mrs. Jolly, Mrs. Hodges, and Mrs. Duchesne. Special welcome to our two new aides, Mrs. Bette and Mrs. Hilary.

I think I'm ready!

I spent the last week preparing my classroom for the new school year. Really like how it turned out. I rearranged the classroom and it gave it so much room. You wouldn't believe how much I threw out. I just closed my eyes and grabbed handfuls of old stuff and threw it away. I will post pictures later. I love the door sign that one of my little ones(who by the way I'm going to miss this year) gave me at the end of last year. It is just perfect Macie!  Hillary spent all day helping me in the classroom. I can't wait to see the different ideas she has for projects this year. She is so creative!  Hope and pray that tomorrow will be a good day for ALL of our little ones. It's sometimes harder for the parents than the children and as a parent I really understand! Just know that I will love them like I do my own children and I may spoil them - just a little.

It's beginning to look a lot like.......BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!! Already??????

WOW! Hard to believe that summer is almost over and it is time for school to start again!!! Trying to prepare for our new school year. I plan on going to my classroom and working ALL next week. Finishing up school shopping this week. I hope. Trying to have everything organized in the house by then. Tracer had some exciting news! He won the grand prize where he takes his drum lessons. More on this coming soon!!!

Summer Changes

I know- it has been forever since I have posted but you would not believe how crazy this summer has been! I am a person who likes things in  my life in a routine and I don't like things to change. Well, I usually end up liking the changes, I just don't like the thought and the process of those changes. I really have a hard time with it! To make a long story short, every since the  third week of summer, our family has undergone major changes. To name just a few- we moved, Taylor's getting ready to attend college, Tracer's starting high-school, Gerald's going to be changing jobs, and I started taking online classes! Beside the children's school NONE of these changes were planned! And, boy did I have a difficult time processing all of these changes at once! A good friend at church told me instead of wondering about the unknown to just look at this as God's opportunity to shine and to watch his wonderful plans unfold. Life happens, plans change, and we change. And sometimes those changes end up being the best changes ever! I know one wonderful thing that has happened, I reconnected with my best friend. We haven't spoken in over 5 years and I just didn't realize how much I missed our talks and her wonderful family. She is going to be a grandma! How can that be? We are just 25 years old. HaHa!  I hope we always make a point to stay in touch from this moment on. Just started thinking about this new school year. I hope that wherever you are, you are happy and blessed. I learned that I will have a room full of boys! I believe I have just 3 little girls and the rest are boys. WOW- hope I am ready for this adventure! Little Miss Michaela is also a special part of our lives now. Funny how God brings people in our lives and opens up a whole new world. We just love spending time with her. She is just precious! Tracer has her rotten. Still enjoying the beautiful flowers at our other home. I love to just go sit in my swing and look at all of the beautiful plants. The Zinnias were just gorgeous this year! Lots of squash, tomatoes, okra from our garden. Eggplants should be ready soon. Lots of yummy vegetables from my daddy's garden. Really good peas and okra.
