Just thought I would share some pictures of some things I received for Christmas that have brought me joy during these long, dreary days of Winter.

Love this saying

My husband surprised me with this chalk drawing of our son from over 7 years ago. I am such a procrastinator that it was still in a poster tube from Galveston. He had it preserved. matted, and framed. It was a beautiful surprise and I love seeing it everyday in our hallway.

 

 

This book was a very sweet read. I stumbled across her blog a few years back and was very excited to read this special story about finding beauty in the unexpected.

A favorite saying

Love this cookbook. To tell the truth I love all 3 of her cookbooks and her autobiography.

And of course, I love Gooseberry Patch cookbooks! Not just for the recipes but also for the stories and decorating ideas that are in them.

Shadows

We learned about shadows and groundhogs. They had fun seeing their shadows.

Today we made snow

Here is the recipe if you want to give it a try. The only thing I would change is to buy a milder smelling conditioner. This one had a really strong floral scent.

 

3 cups of Baking soda

3/4 cups of WHITE -Cheap Conditioner

Mix together(The children love mixing this with their hands)

and you have snow.

*HINT* Chill your hair conditioner before mixing and it will feel like real snow!

PRAYERS NEEDED

Please continue to keep one of our students in your prayers. Wesley H. has been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. His mother is a teacher at one of our local public elementary schools. Wesley is their only child and a very sweet child. Wesley has already received his first treatment of chemo and is in St. Jude's Hospital. Please continue to pray for them. We are taking up money for Wesley and his family, so if you would like to make a donation please make your check or money order out to Paula Humphries/Wesley. You may wish to send in a gift card instead.  Please send in by Friday. I am also asking all of you to help your child make a card or draw something in a bought card for Wesley. Please have these here by Friday. We will be mailing a care package to Him this weekend.

This last week at our church we celebrated 46 years with our Pastor and his wife being the leaders of our church. 46 years is almost unheard of these days. Our Pastor is very committed to our church and our church family. He preaches straight out of the Bible and he is not there to "tickle" our ears. Yes, sometimes he "steps" on my toes but I wouldn't want it any other way. I know that what he preaches is not just something he memorizes but something he is in deep prayer about before he gets behind the pulpit and preaches. This last week he has been sick, in the hospital and was unable to make it to several of the services. We sure did miss him. I know we don't go to church for the preacher but to hear the word of God but somehow it was just not the same. I felt like a sheep without a shepherd guiding me and boy do I need guiding. I'm human and fail in my walk with God daily. We were blessed with wonderful men of God who preached nightly for 9 nights straight. While I didn't make it to every service, the services I did make it to were just what I needed to refuel me. We all need that sometimes. I love my pastor, and my church family. Hope all of you have a wonderful church to attend. I know my pastor and my church family is a blessing to our family, hope yours is too!
